Completed energization of 500kV circuit 3 transmission line, Thanh Hoa - Nam Dinh section
At 11:48 a.m., 30 June 2024, the National Power Transmission Corporation and the Northern Power Project Management Board (NPMB) in coordination with relevant units successfully energized the 500kV circuit 3 transmission line, Thanh Hoa - Nam Dinh section, meeting the Prime Minister's direction requirements.
Great motivation for entire construction site
Thanh Hoa - Nam Dinh 500kV power transmission line project is invested by EVNNPT, managed and operated by NPMB. Power Transmission Company 1 will undertake the management and operation of the project.
The project has a length of 74.4 km passing through the provinces of Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, and Thanh Hoa. This is one of four component projects of the 500kV power transmission line project from Quang Trach (Quang Binh) to Pho Noi (Hung Yen). According to the Prime Minister's direction, the line must be completed in June 2024.

Once completed, the project will help reduce load and avoid overloading the existing 500kV lines, ensuring N-1 criteria. The line also helps improve transmission stability reserves on the North-Central interface, combined with the Quang Trach - Quynh Luu - Thanh Hoa - Nam Dinh I - Pho Noi 500kV power transmission line sections, contributing to adding capacity from power sources in the North Central region to the load center in the Northern region.
Mr. Luu Viet Tien – Vice President of EVNNPT said: The Thanh Hoa - Nam Dinh 500kV power transmission line has 180 tower positions with 74 anchor intervals. The project was implemented from the end of October 2023. On 27 June 2024, the Investor-level Acceptance Council met and agreed on the project's energization plan.

The Thanh Hoa - Nam Dinh I 500kV circuit 3 transmission line project had more favorable conditions than other sections when the Prime Minister approved the first investment policy and started construction nearly 3 months ago compared to the 3 remaining sections of the entire 500kV power transmission line.
The completion and energization of the Project to meet the Prime Minister's direction is a great motivation for the entire construction site of the 500kV circuit-3 power transmission line project to complete acceptance and inaugurated in July 2024 under the direction of the Prime Minister.
The results of entire political system
At the site inspection of the 500kV circuit 3 transmission line project on June 22-23, 2024, the Prime Minister requested EVN and EVNNPT to focus on directing to complete the Thanh Hoa 500kV Substation on 28 June 2024, on 30 June 2024, the Thanh Hoa - Nam Dinh 500kV Line will be completed and in July 2024, the project will be held for investor-level acceptance, state acceptance, environmental restoration and inauguration of the entire project.
Seriously implementing the Prime Minister's direction, up to now EVN and EVNNPT have completed many work items such as: Expanding the bay of Quang Trach 500kV Substation, expanding the bay of Pho Noi 500kV Substation, completing the construction of a new Thanh Hoa 500kV substation, completing of Thanh Hoa - Nam Dinh 500kV Line. The remaining sections of the 500kV circuit-3 line project are being implemented by EVN, EVNNPT, and construction contractors to meet the Prime Minister's direction.
Mr. Pham Le Phu - President and CEO of EVNNPT said: To meet the required progress as directed by the Prime Minister, in a short period many work items were implemented simultaneously such as construction and installation, pole erection, and wire pulling. Therefore, in addition to the main force of EVNNPT's units and construction contractors, EVN has called for mobilizing 5 Power Corporations to participate in supporting construction with a large number of human resources with technical qualifications, experience, and skills. The total number of construction workers on the construction site is about 15,000 people, while the skilled and specialized workers of the contractors are only about 7,000-8,000 people.

- Investor: National Power Transmission Corporation (under EVN);
- Total investment: About VND 22,300 billion;
- Scale: Including two 500kV line circuits about 519km long. Passing through 9 provinces including Quang Binh, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Hai Duong, and Hung Yen.
- Design consulting unit: Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 1,2,4, Institute of Energy;
- Northern Power Project Management Board, on behalf of EVNNPT, manages and operates 2 sections: Nam Dinh I Thermal Power Plant - Thanh Hoa and Nam Dinh I Thermal Power Plant - Pho Noi;
- Central Power Project Management Board, on behalf of EVNNPT, manages and operates 2 sections: Quang Trach - Quynh Luu and Quynh Luu - Thanh Hoa.
