Completion of the 220kV Tuong Duong Substation and Interconnection Line
On May 16th, at 21:45, the Central Power Projects Management Board (CPMB), coordinating with relevant units, organized the acceptance and energization of the 220kV Tuong Duong Substation and Interconnection Line.

The National Power Transmission Corporation invests in the project, with CPMB responsible for project management and Power Transmission Company 1 for operation. The project involves the construction of a new substation with a capacity of 02 220/110/22kV-125MVA transformers, with the installation of one transformer in this phase.
The 220kV section is designed in a "Ring Bus" configuration consisting of 13 bays, 9 bays installed in this phase and 4 bays as a backup. The 110kV section is designed in a "Double Bus with Transfer Busbar" configuration and has reserved land for future development into a "Double Bus with Ring Busbar" configuration. It comprises 16 bays, 6 installed in this phase and 10 bays as a backup. The 22kV section utilizes a block diagram with outdoor equipment for self-supplying power through the substation's transformers.
As for the 220kV interconnection line, a double circuit transmission line is constructed to connect the 220kV Tuong Duong Substation to the existing 220kV Tuong Duong - Ban Ve - Do Luong transmission line.
Upon completion, the project will import electricity from hydropower plants in Nam Mo (Laos) to Vietnam under the agreement between the two governments. It will also accommodate the capacity release from small and medium-sized hydropower plants in the southwestern area of Nghe An province, which are currently under preparation for construction. Furthermore, it will enhance the reliability of the power supply to the load in Nghe An province and ensure the safe operation of the power system.

The project has been implemented since August 2021, facing significant disruptions due to prolonged rainy weather, leading to a suspension of construction for over a month. The construction site also had to halt operations for 14 days due to COVID-19 restrictions imposed by local authorities.
Additionally, the scheduling of power outages for construction purposes encountered difficulties due to the high electricity demand during the hot season. However, CPMB and the on-site construction unit have overcome these challenges to complete the project on schedule, meeting the set requirements and being ready to receive imported electricity from Laos to Vietnam after the completion of the 220kV Nam Mo - Tuong Duong transmission line (expected to be completed by the end of June 2022).
