Energization of the 220kV Van Ninh substation and connecting transmission line project, practically celebrating the success of EVN's 4th Party Congress
On August 16th 2025, National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and Power Transmission Project Management Board (NPTPMB) coordinated with related units to energize the 220kV Van Ninh Substation and connecting transmission line project, thereby helping to strengthen power supply assurance for Khanh Hoa province.
The completion and energization of the project is a practical action by EVNNPT and NPTPMB to celebrate the success of the 4th Congress of the Party Committee of Vietnam Electricity for the 2025-2030 term, celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2nd.
Earlier, on August 14th 2025, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tan - Deputy General Director of EVNNPT, Chairman of the project owner-level acceptance council, chaired the council meeting, where council members unanimously agreed to energize the project.
Overview of the 220kV Van Ninh Substation
The project is owned by National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), managed and operated by NPTPMB, and handed over for operation to Power Transmission Company 3.
The project is built in Suoi Hang hamlet, Tu Bong commune, Khanh Hoa province.
The project has a scale of installing 01 transformer 220/110/22kV - 250MVA. The 220kV side uses a double busbar scheme with bypass busbar, including 10 bays. In this phase, equipment is installed for 06 bays (04 outgoing bays, 01 incoming bay and 01 bus coupler bay), using a double busbar system scheme. Reserve 01 bypass bay, 01 incoming bay for 250MVA transformer and 02 outgoing bays.

The 110kV side uses a double busbar scheme, including 15 bays. In this phase, equipment is installed for connection of 06 bays (04 outgoing bays, 01 incoming bay, 01 bus coupler bay). Reserve 06 outgoing bays, 01 incoming bay for 250MVA transformer, 01 bypass bay and 01 capacitor bay.
The 22kV side uses a unit scheme, with outdoor installed equipment to supply auxiliary power through the station's auxiliary transformer. The control, protection and measurement, communication and SCADA systems are equipped with integrated control systems using computers in accordance with EVN and EVNNPT regulations, protection and measurement equipment in accordance with current regulations.
For the connecting transmission line section, a 220kV transmission line, 04 circuits, approximately 250m long is built to connect to the 220kV Tuy Hoa - Nha Trang transmission line.
During implementation, the project faced many difficulties and challenges due to weather conditions with heavy rain. However, with close direction from EVNNPT leadership, along with the efforts of units participating in the project, the project has now been completed and energized meeting the set schedule.

After completion, the project has very important significance to meet load demand and ensure operation for 110kV substations in the region, especially providing power supply to Van Phong Economic Zone loads, ensuring stable power supply to meet the socio-economic development needs of Khanh Hoa province. Ensuring safe operation of power supply to loads in the northern region of Khanh Hoa province without overloading 110kV transmission lines and voltage drops below allowable voltage levels at 110kV stations in these areas in case of incidents on related 110kV transmission line circuits.
