Energization of the 220kV Vung Ang substation and connection line project
With the successful energization of the 220kV connection line on October 25th, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) has officially completed the entire 220kV Vung Ang substation and connection line project (Ha Tinh Province).
The 220kV Vung Ang Substation is located in Trai Hamlet, Vung Ang Ward, Ha Tinh Province. The substation is designed for a capacity of two 250MVA transformers by 2030; in this phase, one 125MVA transformer has been installed. It is designed with three voltage levels: 220kV, 110kV, and 22kV. The connection line is 13.4 km long, passing through Vung Ang Ward and Song Tri Ward, Ha Tinh Province.

The 220kV Vung Ang Substation was energized on September 21st, 2025. However, the 220kV connection line encountered several obstacles during construction, as some households intentionally opposed and obstructed the contractor’s stringing work in the anchor span 06–08, which is about 600 meters long. The Ha Tinh Provincial authorities mobilized protection forces to support construction, demonstrating the province’s determination in implementing this key local project.
Upon completion, the 220kV Vung Ang substation and connection line project plays an important role in ensuring electricity supply for many critical loads in Ha Tinh Province, particularly the Vung Ang Economic Zone, which hosts several key industrial zones and manufacturing plants of the locality. The project also helps release the generation capacity of the Vung Ang Thermal Power Plant, reduces power losses, ensures operational safety of the power system, and enhances reliability and power supply quality — serving the province’s socio-economic and political development.
This project is also listed among EVN’s key urgent projects selected by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and the Vietnam Electricity (EVN) to promote the emulation campaign for energization completion in 2025.
The project is invested by EVNNPT, managed and supervised on behalf of the investor by the Central Power Projects Management Board (CPMB), and will be operated by Power Transmission Company No.1 upon completion.
