Energizing the 220kV Pho Cao Substation and Interconnection Lines: Enhancing power supply for Hung Yen, Hai Duong provinces and preparing for the 500kV circuit-3 transmission line construction
At 6:30 a.m. on March 26th 2024, the Northern Power Projects Management Board (NPMB) in coordination with relevant units successfully energized both AT1 and AT2 transformers of the 220kV Pho Cao Substation and interconnection lines project.
The 220kV Pho Cao Substation and interconnection lines project is constructed in Vu Duong hamlet, Hong Quang commune, An Thi district, Hung Yen province. The project is invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), with NPMB managing and operating the project on behalf of the investor, Power Transmission Company 1 is responsible for the operation, and Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 4 (EVNPECC4) is the engineering and construction supervision consultant.
Leaders of EVNNPT and NPMB witnessed the energizing of the 220kV Pho Cao Substation project on the morning of March 26th 2024
The project has an investment scale of constructing a new 220/110/22kV substation with a capacity of 2x250MVA (in this phase, two 250MVA transformers are installed); constructing a 220kV interconnection line with 4 circuits, approximately 93m long, connecting the 220kV Pho Cao Substation to the existing 220kV Thai Binh - Kim Dong transmission line. Additionally, a 35kV single-circuit transmission line, approximately 264m long, is built to supply power for the substation's own usage.

According to the plan, the project will be completed in May 2024. However, to support power supply for loads during the outages of the 110kV Pho Cao - Thanh Mien - Hai Duong and 110kV Nghia An - Pho Cao transmission lines for construction at the crossing points of the 500kV circuit-3 transmission line project on the section from Nam Dinh I Thermal Power Plant to Pho Noi, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and EVNNPT required the project to be completed in March. With this urgency, NPMB and participating units have concentrated resources, increased manpower and equipment, organized 3 shifts and 4 teams working during weekends, following the same spirit as the 500kV circuit-3 transmission line project to meet the completion deadline in March 2024.

After completion, the project will help ensure stable and reliable long-term power supply for socio-economic development in Hung Yen, Hai Duong provinces and surrounding areas, while also preventing overloads at the 220kV Kim Dong Substation.
