Ensuring power supply for Thai Binh province in hot season of 2024 and following years
At 9:35 a.m. on 27th April 2024, the National Power Transmission Project Management Board (NPTPMB) in coordination with relevant units energized successfully the project of installing the second 220kV transformer at 220kV Thai Thuy substation (Thai Binh province).
The project is invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), managed by NPTPMB, and operated by Power Transmission Company 1, Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 4 (EVNPECC4) provided engineering consulting services for the project.
National Power Transmission Project Management Board in coordination with relevant units witnessed the energization of the second 220kV transformer at 220kV Thai Thuy substation.
Project scale: Installation of one 220/110/22kV - 250MVA AT2 transformer (increasing the total capacity of the substation to 2x250 MVA), installation of equipment for 4 bays of 110kV transmission line. This is a grade I, group C energy project located within the existing 220kV Thai Thuy substation in Thai Do commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province, with a total investment of more than VND 110 billion.
Once completed, the project helps ensure a stable, long-term, reliable power supply for the socio-economic development of Thai Binh province and surrounding areas, while preventing overloading of the 220kV Thai Thuy substation.
AT2 transformer at 220kV Thai Thuy substation
According to Mr. Vo Luong Nhan, Deputy Director of NPTPMB, the project was originally scheduled for energization in the third quarter of 2024. However, due to the rapid increase in electricity demand in Thai Binh province, the existing AT1 transformer at the 220kV Thai Thuy Substation was consistently operating at full load, reaching 90% of its capacity. Therefore, the leaders of EVN and EVNNPT directed NPTPMB to accelerate the project completion in April 2024 in order to ensure a stable power supply for Thai Binh province, and to meet the growing electricity needs of the local and businesses in the region during the hot season.
During the project implementation, the project faced significant manpower challenges due to the concentration of construction resources on the 500kV circuit-3 transmission line project.
With the urgent nature of the project, NPTPMB and the participating units have been highly focused, working day and night, increasing construction machinery; Organized construction in 3 shifts, 4 teams, 24/7, through holidays following the spirit of implementing the 500kV circuit-3 transmission line project in order to meet the project completion schedule in April 2024.
Prior to energization, the investor-level acceptance council held a meeting to agree on the project’s energization
During the project implementation, the project has received full attention and support from local authorities of Thai Binh province, the direction of EVN and EVNNPT leaders, and the coordination of the Northern Load Dispatch Center, the attention and support of specialized departments, units under EVNNPT such as NPTS, PTC1, Ninh Binh Power Transmission and the tireless efforts of the entire project team, which helped the project reach the finish line sooner than planned.
The completion of the project is a practical action of NPTPMB to celebrate the 49th anniversary of National Reunification (April 30th 1975 - April 30th 2024) and the 138th International Labor Day (May 1st).
