Entire Nho Quan – Phu Ly – Thuong Tin 500/220kV transmission line successfully energized
At 11:35 AM on 26 July 2026, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), the Northern Power Projects Management Board (NPMB), in coordination with The National Electricity System and Market Operation Company (NSMO), successfully energized the entire Nho Quan – Phu Ly – Thuong Tin 500/220kV transmission line project, marking the completion of one of the key power transmission works in the Northern region.
EVNNPT is the project investor. NPMB acts on behalf of the investor in managing and administering the project, while Power Transmission Company No. 1 (PTC1) will take over its operation and maintenance upon completion.
The Nho Quan – Phu Ly – Thuong Tin 500/220kV transmission line is 80 km long, passing through Ninh Binh, Phu Tho provinces and Hanoi city. The work is being constructed as a 500kV and 220kV combined transmission line, connecting the Nho Quan 500kV Substation, the Phu Ly 220kV Substation, and the Thuong Tin 500kV Substation.
The work aims to strengthen the interconnection of the Nho Quan – Thuong Tin 500kV transmission line, improve voltage quality, and enhance power transmission capacity from power sources to the northern load center; while also increasing power supply to the Phu Ly 220kV substation, meeting the growing load demand of Ninh Binh province, Hanoi city, and neighboring localities.
The completion of the entire project is particularly important as electricity demand in Northern Vietnam continues to grow. It will help enhance the reliability of power supply, improve the operational flexibility of the 500kV and 220kV transmission network, reduce the risk of overloading on existing transmission lines, and enable more efficient utilization of generation sources across the power system.

The successful energization of the entire Nho Quan – Phu Ly – Thuong Tin 500/220 kV transmission line project further demonstrates EVNNPT's commitment to implementing key power transmission projects, contributing to the implementation of the National Power Development Plan VIII, strengthening national energy security, and supporting the country's socio-economic development.
When put into operation, the work will contribute to improving the transmission capacity of the national power system, strengthening the 500kV grid connection, enhancing the safety, stability and reliability of the power system, and ensuring safe and continuous power supply to the capital city of Hanoi and Ninh Binh Province and other localities in the Northern Delta region, creating a foundation to serve the economic growth of the region in the coming years.
