EVN inaugurates Phuoc Thai 2 Solar Power Plant

On the morning of December 19, in Phuoc Huu Commune, Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and Power Project Management Board No. 2 (EVNPMB2), in coordination with the People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa Province, held the inauguration ceremony of the Phuoc Thai 2 Solar Power Plant. This project is among the large-scale power projects of significant importance commemorating the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Attending the ceremony were Comrade Nguyen Khac Ha, Deputy Secretary of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Khanh Hoa Province; Comrade Trinh Minh Hoang, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee; Comrade Hoang Thi Ut Lan, former Chairwoman of the Ninh Thuan Provincial People’s Committee; Comrade Nguyen Bac Viet, former Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ninh Thuan Provincial Party Committee and former Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Ninh Thuan Province; and Comrade Pham Van Hau, former Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Khanh Hoa Province.

Representing Vietnam Electricity (EVN) were Comrade Dang Huy Cuong – Member of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Electricity (EVN); Comrade Pham Le Phu – EVN Vice President; Comrade Do Thanh Tai – Director of Power Project Management Board No. 2, along with representatives of EVN’s functional departments.

The ceremony was also attended by leaders from central ministries and agencies, local authorities, as well as representatives of the contractor consortium and construction units.

The Phuoc Thai 2 Solar Power Plant has an installed capacity of 100MWp (equivalent to 87MW), with a total investment of VND 1,495 billion, and is located in Phuoc Huu Commune, Khanh Hoa Province. The project is invested in by Vietnam Electricity (EVN), with Power Project Management Board No. 2 assigned as the representative responsible for project management and operation.

The project is connected to the national power grid via the Phuoc Thai 220kV Substation and a synchronous 220kV transmission line system. The plant is expected to generate an annual power output of approximately 168 million kWh, making an important contribution to supplementing clean energy sources for the national power system, reducing greenhouse gas effects, and properly implementing the renewable energy development roadmap under the adjusted Power Development Plan VII, for which the Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee has approved the investment policy.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Trinh Minh Hoang – Vice Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee – emphasized that this is not only a practical activity celebrating the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, but also an important event in the province’s renewable energy development strategy.

The completion of the project marks a significant milestone, affirming the extraordinary efforts of all parties involved throughout the implementation process. EVN’s leadership affirmed that EVN will operate the plant optimally, contributing to the socio-economic development of Khanh Hoa Province in the coming period.

At 20:22 on April 29th 2026, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), in coordination with the Power Transmission Project Management Board (NPTPMB) and the National Power System and Market Operation Co., Ltd. (NSMO), successfully energized the project to upgrade the capacity of the 500kV Hoa Binh Substation, increasing its capacity from 1,350MVA to 1,800MVA.
