At the 5th Patriotic Emulation Congress of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), held on 30/06/20205, Comrade Huynh Thanh Xuan - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor expressed his confidence that: Vietnam Electricity will continue to promote the tradition of patriotic emulation, maintain its role as the leading unit of the state-owned enterprise sector in organizing practical, effective, in-depth and sustainable emulation movements, contributing to the successful implementation of the country's strategic targets. The congress honored 77 outstanding individuals from the entire EVN during the period of 2020-2025.

Firmly " Lighting up belief "

Speaking at the congress, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) Huynh Thanh Xuan affirmed that from 2020 to 2025, in the context of the country facing many difficulties and challenges, especially the COVID-19 pandemic and the requirement to transform the energy development model towards green, clean and sustainable, Vietnam Electricity has always clearly demonstrated its pioneering role and high responsibility towards the community and the country, making efforts to ensure safe, stable and continuous electricity supply - contributing significantly to economic growth, maintaining national defense, energy security and improving people's lives.

According to the Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), EVN is one of the exemplary and leading units in effectively organizing and implementing emulation movements closely aligned with political tasks, business and production activities, and the welfare of its employees. Typically, in the emulation movement "10,000 initiatives" in response to the "1 million initiatives" program launched by the General Confederation, EVN has completed 129% of the target, recording more than 12,900 initiatives, many of which are valuable initiatives that bring tens and hundreds of billions of VND in profit, contributing to improving labor productivity, operational efficiency and strongly promoting digital transformation in the EVN.

The Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor particularly commended the strong impact of the emulation movement in support of the 500kV Circuit-3 transmission line project from Quang Trach to Pho Noi. This emulation movement is not only a technical and administrative achievement but also a victory in the spirit of patriotic emulation, uniting the strength of the entire political system, the consensus and support of the people, and the entire workforce.

In order for the patriotic emulation movement to increasingly expand and spread to all EVN employees, according to Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Huynh Thanh Xuan, the patriotic emulation movement at EVN in the coming time needs to focus on a number of orientations: first, continue to launch emulation movements on key works; second, promote the creative labor emulation movement, apply the achievements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and artificial intelligence to all aspects of production and business activities; third, care for and develop human resources, especially high-quality technical workers; fourth, continue to promote the effective coordination model between professionals and Trade Unions at all levels in organizing emulation movements; Pay special attention to linking emulation with practical care for the material and spiritual life, welfare, and labor safety of workers; fifth, enhance the discovery, development, and widespread promotion of typical advanced individuals.

Searching for and promoting typical factors

Vietnam's power system is expected to reach a capacity of 88,400 MW by 2025, ranking second in Southeast Asia and 23rd globally. Technical and economic indicators, including power loss and the electricity access index, are currently ranked 4th in ASEAN. Rural electrification in Vietnam has made significant strides, outperforming many countries in the region in terms of progress and coverage. EVN has also supplied electricity to eleven out of twelve island districts; 99.73% of rural households in Vietnam are connected to the national grid. These results are achieved from the direction of the Party, the Government, and the efforts of each employee in the Power sector.

In terms of investment, EVN has consistently maintained the largest investment volume among state-owned corporations and groups in recent years, focusing on key projects such as power generation sources, transmission, and distribution grids.

“To achieve the target of double-digit economic growth in the new era, the responsibility of the Power sector and Vietnam Electricity is extremely great.” – Comrade Dang Hoang An emphasized.

“I appreciate the spirit and attitude of the Power sector’s staff, especially the 77 comrades honored at today’s Patriotic Emulation Congress. You are the typical representatives of 95,000 cadres, workers, and employees who are working day and night to 'light up the belief'," shared Mr. Dang Hoang An, Chairman of the EVN Board of Directors.

At the congress, Comrade Do Duc Hung - Chairman of Vietnam Electricity Trade Union officially launched the movement to excellently complete production and business tasks in the period of 2025 - 2030, with the motto “Solidarity – Democracy – Discipline – Breakthrough – Development”, focusing on the following contents: ensuring safe, continuous and stable electricity supply; promoting investment in power sources and grids according to the planning, ensuring synchronization and efficiency; develop a smart, synchronous, modern, regionally connected power grid; improve corporate governance efficiency, ensure sustainable finance, mobilize sufficient investment capital; improve business quality and customer service; develop high-quality human resources, improve labor productivity; make breakthroughs in science and technology, innovation and digital transformation; practice thrift and combat wastefulness comprehensively across all areas; effectively carry out communication work, social security, implement corporate culture and develop the EVN brand.
