In the context of a strong global energy transition, Vietnam Electricity - EVN has taken steps to prepare for the upcoming development phase. Researching into new aspects of technology, in which the application of hydrogen energy is one of such preparations.

Realizing the inevitable development of this hydrogen energy field, Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 4 (EVNPECC4) has registered a scientific research at EVN level, with the title of "Research on overview of the hydrogen market in the world and forecast for development of the hydrogen market up to 2030", led by Mr. Tran Truong Han - Director of the Thermal Power & New Energy Engineering Center - as the project leader.

The research topic aims to meet the main objectives:

  1. Research and evaluate the global and Vietnam hydrogen market in the future and the necessity for EVN to participate in the hydrogen market.
  2. Research and propose technology solutions, project scale, potential locations suitable to specific conditions in Vietnam for EVN to invest and apply hydrogen fuel.
  3. Proposing a development roadmap for EVN to participate in the Hydro market.

On September 9, 2022, EVNPECC4 reported the outline of this scientific research and was approved by all members of the EVN appraisal council, which is the basis for EVNPECC4 to continue implementing the project.
