Implementation of the 220kV Do Luong – Nam Cam Transmission Line Project

10/02/2025 16:42:33

On February 9th 2025, in Nghe An, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and the Central Power Project Management Board (CPMB), in coordination with relevant units, commenced the implementation of the 220kV Do Luong – Nam Cam Transmission Line Project.

This is a Category I energy project, with EVNNPT as the investor, CPMB as the project management unit, and Power Transmission Company No. 1 responsible for operation upon completion. The project has been approved for investment by the People's Committee of Nghe An Province, which also approved the investor under Decision No. 123/QD-UBND (dated November 11th 2024).

The 220kV Do Luong – Nam Cam Transmission Line Project is being constructed across the districts of Do Luong, Nghi Loc, and Hung Nguyen in Nghe An Province.

The delegates conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for the project

The project entails the construction of a 220kV double-circuit transmission line extending approximately 37 km from the 220kV Do Luong Substation to the 220kV Nam Cam Substation. Specifically, the section from G4 to G6 (about 4 km) will be built with a 4-circuit configuration, sharing the corridor with the 110kV double-circuit Do Luong – Nam Dan Transmission Line. The expansion at the 220kV Do Luong Substation will involve installing equipment for two 220kV bays within the existing substation and establishing communication system links for the 220kV Do Luong – Nam Cam Transmission Line. The total investment for the project is nearly 557 billion VND.

Upon completion, the project will meet the electricity demand for the central region, which includes key existing and future industrial loads in Nghe An Province, thereby contributing to the province’s socio-economic development. The project will also strengthen power grid interconnection between northern Vietnam and Laos, helping to address electricity shortages in northern Vietnam. Additionally, it will support the operational stability and safety of the national power system, reduce transmission losses, and enhance the business efficiency of EVN and EVNNPT.

The participating units are determined to complete the project within 2025

Mr. Le Xuan Hoa, Director of the Central Power Project Management Board (CPMB), emphasized that this project plays a crucial role in ensuring electricity supply for Nghe An Province, a rapidly growing economic area with high electricity demand. It is also vital for the release of power capacity from Laos to Vietnam under the bilateral agreement between the two governments. Therefore, CPMB has instructed all units involved in construction to strictly adhere to technical standards, regulations, safety and environmental management requirements to ensure high construction quality.

The CPMB Director urged all contractors and site supervision consulting units to uphold the “500kV 3 - Circuit Transmission Line Spirit” by mobilizing resources efficiently and collaborating closely with the project management and related units. The goal is to ensure high-quality and timely execution, striving to energize the project within 2025 as directed by EVNNPT.

Route alignment of the 220kV Do Luong – Nam Cam Transmission Line Project

The construction unit representatives pledged to maximize resources to accelerate the project’s progress. They also called for strong cooperation from local authorities and residents in facilitating land clearance, which is essential for timely project execution and meeting the electricity requirements of Nghe An Province and surrounding areas.

As of now, Nghe An Province has handed over 68 out of 104 foundation locations (accounting for 65.3%). Specifically, Do Luong District has transferred 39 out of 49 locations, Hung Nguyen District has completed all 5 locations, and Nghi Loc District has delivered 24 out of 50 locations. Procedures for the remaining corridor clearance are ongoing.
