Launched Workers' Month and Action Month of Occupational Safety and Health in 2024

On the morning of May 11th in Binh Thuan province, the Vietnam Electricity’s Labor Union organized the launching ceremony for the 2024 Workers' Month and Action Month of Occupational Safety and Health.

Attending the ceremony from Vietnam Electricity (EVN) were Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Party Secretary, President & CEO; Mr. Do Duc Hung, Chairman of Vietnam Electricity’s Labor Union; and Vice Chairpersons: Mr. Uong Quang Huy and Ms. Nguyen Kim Thanh

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Do Duc Hung - Chairman of EVN’s Labor Union stated that in 2024, amidst the many difficulties and challenges that Vietnam Electricity are facing in supplying power for national development, labor unions at all levels have always coordinated with specialized departments and the Youth Union to encourage workers in the units to work diligently and enthusiastically, complete assigned tasks, take care of living standards, improve working conditions, increase incomes, and look after the material and spiritual lives of workers and employees. Entities within EVN have always paid attention to ensuring occupational safety and health, with millions of workers actively participating in occupational safety and health emulation movements; many initiatives and preventive solutions in the field of occupational safety and health have been implemented, bringing good effects.

To create new motivation and momentum for labor union’s members, and workers nationwide to have high determination and make great efforts to jointly bring the resolutions of labor union congresses at all levels and the Resolution of the 13th Congress of EVN’s Labor Union for the 2023-2028 term into practice, the Chairman of  EVN’s Labor Union expects labor unions at all levels to coordinate with specialized departments and mass organizations within their units to well organize activities in response to the 2024 Workers' Month - Action Month of Occupational Safety and Health; specifically realizing the themes "Strengthening occupational safety and health at workplaces and in supply chains" and "Workers' Solidarity - Implementing Resolutions" according to the plans of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and the plan issued by EVN’s Labor Union.

The Chairman of EVN’s Labor Union is confident that with the spirit of solidarity, responsibility, and creativity of union members, workers, and labor unions at all levels, with the attention and coordination of Party committees, authorities, and the consensus of employers, the 2024 Workers' Month - Action Month of Occupational Safety and Health will be effectively implemented and achieve high results.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - EVN’s President & CEO acknowledged the efforts of labor unions at all levels in coordinating well with specialized departments in organizing meaningful and practical activities. These activities not only help improve the lives of workers but also contribute to building the image of a strong, humane, and pioneering Vietnam Electricity in taking care of employees.

The EVN’s President & CEO also requested that each individual and entity within EVN continue to tighten occupational safety measures, not just during this month but as a daily routine, so that safety truly becomes a culture in all of our activities, with each working day being a safe and efficient day. Each individual should be a role model for others in strictly adhering to safety regulations, contributing to building Vietnam Electricity as not only a large and strong production and business entity but also an enterprise with a safe and healthy working environment.

Within the framework of the program, EVN’s Labor Union also presented 23 gifts to workers facing difficult circumstances.

The 2024 Workers' Month will be held under the theme "Workers' Solidarity - Implementing Resolutions". The goal is for 100% of grassroots labor unions within EVN’s Labor Union to organize at least one appropriate activity to respond to the 2024 Workers' Month and Action Month of Occupational Safety and Health.

Particularly, during the 2024 Workers' Month, EVN’s Labor Union will organize 6 focused activities, including: organizing propaganda, dissemination, study, and implementation of the Resolutions of the 13th Vietnam Labor Union Congress and the 6th Congress of the EVN's Labor Union for the 2023-2028 term; organizing the launching ceremony for the 2024 Workers' Month - Action Month of Occupational Safety and Health; advising on the organization of the regular meeting of EVN's Party Committee with the Standing Board of EVN's Labor Union.

During the Workers' Month, EVN's Labor Union will also organize a commendation and reward ceremony for "Outstanding Workers in the Electricity Sector" and "Excellent Occupational Safety and Health Representatives" in 2024; launch a "Running Race for Workers, Employees, and Laborers"; organize delegations to visit and encourage workers at disadvantaged units in remote areas, borders, and islands; visit workers and employees facing difficulties, occupational accidents, and occupational diseases; and present "Labor Union Warm Homes" to union members and workers.
