Mounting name board for Lao Cai 500kV Substation and phase 1 connection 220kV lines work to welcome 6th Congress of Vietnam Electricity Trade Union
On 29 September 2023, in Lao Cai province, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) in coordination with Vietnam Electricity Trade Union mounted a name board for the work "Lao Cai 500kV substation and connection 220kV lines (phase 1)". This is a work to welcome the 6th Congress of Vietnam Electricity Trade Union for the 2023 - 2028 term.
Delegates performing the ceremony of mounting name board to welcome 6th Congress of Vietnam Electricity Trade Union for term 2023 - 2028 for Lao Cai 500kV substation and connection 220kV lines (phase 1) work.
The work "Lao Cai 500kV substation and connection 220kV lines (phase 1)" was constructed on 21 April 2022, in Bao Thang district, Lao Cai province. This is important work to release the capacity of small hydropower sources in the Northwest and neighboring areas, support electricity import when necessary; reduce the load on the existing Son La - Hiep Hoa, Son La - Nho Quan 500kV lines, ensure electricity supply for growing load needs and energy security of the National Power Grid System.
Lao Cai 500kV substation (phase 1)
The work includes 2 phases. In particular, phase 1 of investing in constructing a 220kV distribution yard has now been completed and fully prepared for investor-level acceptance conditions. The Investor Level Acceptance Council (EVN) is expected to organize the acceptance to complete phase 1 of the work, putting the 220kV distribution yard and connection 220kV line into use in early October 2023.
The completion of phase 1 of the work also demonstrates the close coordination of units within the Vietnam Electricity, construction units as well as the effectiveness of launching the emulation movement to complete and mount the name board for Lao Cai 500kV Substation and connection 220kV lines (Phase 1) work.

Lao Cai 500kV Substation and Connection Lines Project:
- Investor: Vietnam Electricity;
- Project management and administration: Power Project Management Board 1;
- Design consulting unit: Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 1;
- Design verification unit: Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 4 (EVNPECC4);
- Project scale: Install two 500kV-900MVA transformers, build connection 220kV lines longer than 17.5 km;
- Total investment: VND 1,564 billion
