Pleiku 2 500kV Substation capacity upgraded to 1,800MVA
On December 23, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and the Central Power Project Management Board (CPMB), in coordination with related units, successfully energized and upgraded the capacity of the 500kV AT2 transformer at Pleiku 2 500kV Substation from 450MVA to 900MVA, thereby increasing the station's capacity to 1,800MVA.
The Pleiku 2 500kV Substation Capacity Upgrade Project was implemented within the existing Pleiku 2 500kV Substation premises (without expanding the station area) in Gao commune, Gia Lai province.
This is a special-grade, Group B energy project, with the National Power Transmission Corporation as the investor, CPMB managing and operating the project, and Power Transmission Company 3 receiving it for operation.

The project energization is very significant in meeting the power transmission needs of hydropower plants and renewable energy on provincial territory and in the region; ensuring stable, long-term, reliable power supply for socio-economic development in the region; reducing power losses in the transmission grid, thereby increasing business production efficiency.
This is a practical achievement by EVNNPT and CPMB to celebrate the 71st anniversary of the Vietnamese Electricity Industry's Traditional Day (December 21, 1954 - December 21, 2025), and to celebrate the 7th Vietnam Electricity Labor Union Congress for the 2025-2030 term.

- Special-grade, Group B energy project, with the scale of replacing the existing 500kV - 450MVA transformer (AT2) with a 500kV - 900MVA transformer. Along with this, the project replaces equipment to ensure short-circuit current capacity when upgrading the 500kV transformer capacity to 900MVA (including circuit breakers, disconnectors and current transformers of existing 220kV bays). Renovating primary, secondary items, construction, fire prevention and fighting, SCADA-information systems to suit the newly installed 500kV transformer scale.
