Prime Minister inspected construction progress of the 500kV Lao Cai-Vinh Yen Transmission Line Project

On the morning of August 9^th, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected and urged the implementation of the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project in Phu Tho province.

Joining the working delegation were Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee – Mr. Bui Quang Huy; Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade – Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long; leaders from the Government Office, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of National Defense, Military Region 2, Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, provincial leaders, departments and sectors of Lao Cai and Phu Tho provinces; along with representatives of the project owner and contractors.

The 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project is a nationally important project, assigned by the Prime Minister to Vietnam Electricity (EVN) as the project investor. The project has a total investment of over 7.410 trillion VND, a total length of approximately 229.5 km, passing through 31 communes in 2 provinces of Lao Cai and Phu Tho, with a total of 468 transmission tower foundation locations.

Inspecting at foundation location VT404 (Thai Hoa commune) and foundation tower location VT369 (Dan Chu commune) - the highest tower of the project crossing the Lo River, 130m high, weighing 360 tons, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and encouraged the construction forces and support forces for the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project construction.

After inspecting the construction site, the Prime Minister held a working session with leaders of ministries, sectors, EVN, contractors and leaders of Lao Cai and Phu Tho provinces to resolve difficulties and obstacles, determined to complete the project soon.

500kV Lao Cai – Vinh Yen transmission line project:

Investor: Vietnam Electricity (EVN);
Project management and operation: Power Project Management Board 1 (EVNPMB1);
Survey and engineering consultants: Joint venture of Power Engineering Consulting JSC 1 (EVNPECC1) and Power Engineering Consulting JSC 4 (EVNPECC4);
Total investment: Over 7,410 billion VND;
Construction commencement: March 2025;
Expected completion: August 19^th, 2025.

EVNPECC4 has completed the engineering work, meeting EVN's required schedule. Currently at the construction site, EVNPECC4 is continuing to implement the author supervision phase for the section from position 231 to 470 in Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc provinces; supervising construction of package 9HH from position 380 to position 428 and package 5XL - Construction, installation and expansion of bay stations and optical repeater stations.

500kV Hoa Binh Substation Upgraded to 1,800MVA, Strengthening Power Supply for Northern Vietnam Ahead of This Year’s Peak Heat Season

At 20:22 on April 29th 2026, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), in coordination with the Power Transmission Project Management Board (NPTPMB) and the National Power System and Market Operation Co., Ltd. (NSMO), successfully energized the project to upgrade the capacity of the 500kV Hoa Binh Substation, increasing its capacity from 1,350MVA to 1,800MVA.

EVNNPT Labor Union Supports Construction Site, Accelerates Completion of the 500kV Hoa Binh Substation Capacity Upgrade Project on Schedule
