The energization of the 220kV Yen Hung Substation and Interconnection: Enhancing power supply for Quang Ninh Province during the hot season

At 7:00 AM on June 13th, The Northern Power Projects Management Board (EVNNPMB), in collaboration with relevant units, energized the 220kV Yen Hung Substation and Interconnection project.

This is a Grade I energy project, Group B, with a total investment of over 482 billion VND. The National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) is the investor, EVNNPMB manages the project, Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 1 is engineering consultant, and Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 4 (EVNPECC4) is appraisal and construction estimation consultant, and Power Transmission Company 1 is the operator.

*The AT1 Transformer at the 220kV Yen Hung Substation*

The 220kV Yen Hung Substation is located in Minh Thanh Ward, Quang Yen Town, Quang Ninh Province. The interconnection line of the 220kV Yen Hung Substation passes through the following areas: Bac Son and Nam Khe wards in Uong Bi City and Minh Thanh and Dong Mai wards in Quang Yen Town, Quang Ninh Province.

The newly constructed 220/110/22kV substation includes the installation of a 250MVA (AT1) 220/110/22kV transformer. The 220kV section is equipped with devices for 2 transmission line circuits (to connect to the 220kV Yen Hung Substation on the existing Uong Bi Thermal Power Plant - Trang Bach 220kV transmission line) and 1 transformer bay operating according to a delta configuration (designed according to a missing quadrilateral diagram).

The 110kV section is equipped with devices for 11 bays (8 transmission line bays, 1 communication bay, 1 ring circuit bay, and 1 total 110kV transformer bay for the 220kV substation).

The 22kV section has outdoor devices arranged according to the power supply block diagram for self-use. The control, protection, measurement, communication, and SCADA systems are equipped in compliance with EVN and EVNNPT regulations, as well as current regulations.

The 220kV interconnection line is constructed as a forward interconnection on the existing Uong Bi Thermal Power Plant - Trang Bach 220kV transmission line, with a cross-sectional area of 2xACSR 330/43 and a length of approximately 20km.

The completion of the project meets the electricity supply demand for Quang Ninh Province during this year's hot season. Additionally, it strengthens the connectivity between regions in the power system, enhances the safe and stable operation of the national power system, improves power supply stability, reduces power losses and energy losses in the system, and enhances the production and business efficiency of EVNNPT.

Gia Lai Approved Investment Policy for the Se San 3 Hydropower Plant Expansion

The Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee has recently approved the investment policy and concurrently approved Vietnam Electricity (EVN) as the investor for the Se San 3 Hydropower Plant Expansion Project. The project will be implemented in Ia Ly Commune, Gia Lai Province, and Ya Ly Commune, Quang Ngai Province.

Gia Lai approves investment policy for Sesan 4 Hydropower Plant Expansion Project

The Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee issued Decision No. 3625/QD-UBND dated August 23, 2026, approving the investment policy and simultaneously approving Vietnam Electricity (EVN) as the investor of the Sesan 4 Hydropower Plant Expansion Project. The project has a design capacity of 120MW and a total investment of nearly VND 3 trillion.

The Meeting was attended and directed by representatives of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), including Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Ha - EVN’s Board Member; Mr. Tran Vinh Thai - Deputy Head of Corporate Planning Department; and Ms. Pham Huong Giang - Officer of Corporate Planning Department, together with 46 PECC4 shareholders, representing 14,850,719 shares, equivalent to 75.07% of the Company’s total voting shares.

On the afternoon of August 18th 2026, at My Anh Football Field in Nha Trang Ward, Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 4 (EVNPECC4) participated in a football tournament commemorating the 81st Anniversary of the Traditional Day of the People’s Public Security Forces of Vietnam (19/8/1945 - 19/8/2026). The tournament was organized by the Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention Division of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police.
