Vietnam Electricity's (EVN) culture is the foundation and inherent strength for sustainable development of EVN
This statement was made by Mr. Duong Quang Thanh, the Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Board of Directors of EVN, at the conference on the review of EVN's corporate culture in the 2016-2021 period and the implementation of the EVN Culture Journey in the 2022-2025 period. The conference was held on the morning of April 4th in Hanoi and connected to 32 venues at the level-2 entities and nearly 200 venues at the level-3 entities.
Mr. Duong Quang Thanh - EVN's Chairman of the Board and Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan - EVN's General Director co-chaired the conference.
The conference was attended by nearly 240 delegates, including leaders of the Vietnam Electricity, EVN's specialized departments, the Vietnam Electricity Labor Union, and units within EVN.
Building a strong, exemplary, and sustainable EVN culture
Speaking at the conference, the Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Board of Directors of EVN, Mr. Duong Quang Thanh, affirmed that based on the nearly 70-year tradition of the corporate culture, under the guidance of the EVN Party Committee and the leadership of the EVN leadership team, EVN's corporate culture has undergone innovation, maintained its quality, and gradually developed to new heights of "Innovation - Pioneer - Creativity - Responsibility - Reliability and Professionalism." These cultural values of EVN are increasingly being affirmed, deeply ingrained in every EVN employee, and spreading wherever EVN is present.
"Entering a new phase, a phase of utmost importance to the development of the Vietnam Electricity with increasingly heavy responsibilities and increasingly difficult and complex tasks to meet the energy needs for socio-economic development and people's lives; EVN must be a pioneer, creative, and constantly innovative. We must build a reliable, professional, open, and learning EVN culture," Mr. Duong Quang Thanh emphasized.
To successfully implement the upcoming EVN Culture Journey, Mr. Duong Quang Thanh also emphasized the need to awaken the pride in all employees for the traditional values of EVN, pride in the identity of EVN's culture, namely: a professional and reliable EVN, a pioneering and creative EVN; a united and compassionate EVN family; EVN - an organization with high social responsibility.
Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan also proposed that the member companies and units set clear goals in building and implementing the corporate culture in their respective units, establish specific targets and orientations for all employees to align with the common goal, and at the same time, create a diverse and inclusive working environment at EVN and its units to encourage and promote innovation, creativity, and enhance EVN's competitive ability.
The General Director of EVN emphasizes the importance of implementing practical solutions to attract top talents, retain existing talented employees, establish a system for efficient monitoring and evaluation, and promote innovation and creativity are solutions helping EVN and member companies to develop corporate culture more effectively
With aforementioned viewpoints and objectives, EVN has developed and issued a comprehensive plan to implement the corporate culture in the EVN for 2022-2025. The objectives of this plan include successfully implementing innovations in content, management methods, and the execution of the corporate culture. The program aims to enhance the quality and effectiveness of implementing the corporate culture throughout the corporation, create a professional, friendly, modern working environment that ensures fairness and transparency, and continue to build a cohesive and compassionate EVN community. The plan also seeks to enhance the image and reputation of the EVN brand as a reliable, professional, friendly, and customer-centric partner committed to social responsibility and the community.
EVN has also issued new documents on EVN's corporate culture and Code of Conduct. Currently, EVN is actively implementing these new cultural elements. This is a crucial foundation for EVN to embark on a new cultural journey, where the cultural values of EVN penetrate every aspect of its business operations, reaching every employee, customer, and broader community.
Step by Step Refinement of EVN's corporate culture
According to the Deputy CEO of EVN, Vo Quang Lam, the period from 2016 to 2021 was a phase where EVN's corporate culture stabilized and became ingrained. Remarkable achievements were made in implementing the corporate culture, such as professionalizing leadership and general management in terms of the corporate culture. EVN fulfilled its commitments to the Party, the Government, customers, partners, and the community by implementing the cultural objectives set by EVN.
Furthermore, the construction and implementation of the corporate culture received unanimous support from the Party committees, unit leaders, labor unions, and youth organizations at all levels. Many units and leaders have shown great dedication to building and resolutely implementing the corporate culture within their units. Implementing the corporate culture also contributed to maintaining unity and solidarity. EVN has genuinely become a shared home for nearly 100,000 united, caring, and dedicated employees.
The slogan "EVN enlightening trust" has been strongly disseminated, and units within EVN have genuinely respected the value of trust as a strength in their corporate culture activities. Through their engagement in corporate culture activities, employees increasingly recognize the value of faith as both a goal and a motivation to strive. They continuously work and innovate to uphold the trust of the Party, the Government, customers, and partners.
Based on the results achieved in implementing the corporate culture tasks, EVN has evaluated its performance annually according to corporate culture criteria. From 2016 to 2021, EVN had 16 units that scored above 90% of the total absolute points, with the top 4 units being the Hanoi Power Corporation, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation, National Power Transmission Corporation, and Se San Hydropower Development Company.
During the conference, these 4 units, which had achieved significant results in implementing EVN's corporate culture tasks, presented their papers, including Developing Digital Culture to Foster Innovative and Effective Enterprises at the Hanoi Power Corporation, Leadership Culture at the Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation, Business Culture at the Northern Power Corporation, and EVN's New Corporate Culture Document and Opportunities for Innovative Corporate Culture Construction in EVNPECC4.
Deputy General Director of EVN, Mr. Vo Quang Lam, also expressed his expectations that EVN would continue nurturing a continuous improvement culture. EVN must be an environment where everyone is encouraged to share ideas, learn from each other, and work together to achieve common goals. EVN must also strengthen its relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholders while building an image as a reliable energy group with high social responsibility. The group is well aware of the need to improve processes, regulations, and policies to adapt to new circumstances and raise each employee's awareness regarding the importance of corporate culture.
"Only when the working environment has all the elements of a good culture can EVN develop sustainably and meet the increasing demands of customers, the community, and society," emphasized Deputy General Director Vo Quang Lam.
During the conference, participants actively asked questions, exchanged ideas, and clarified matters to contribute suggestions and improvements to the implementation of EVN's corporate culture tasks in the coming period and to fulfill the commitment to implement the EVN Culture Journey 2022-2025.
Fifteen outstanding units implementing EVN's corporate culture tasks during 2016-2021 were honored to receive Commendation Certificates from Vietnam Electricity.
